[CHAPTER 61] AN ACT To amend section 55, National Defense Act, as amended, to provide for enlist- ment of men up to forty-five years of age in technical units of the Enlisted Reserve Corps. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That section 55 of the National Defense Act of June 3, 1916, as amended (44 Stat. 704), be and the same is hereby further amended to read as follows: "SEO. 55. THE ENI.STED REsERvE CORP.- The Enlisted Reserve Corps shall consist of persons voluntarily enlisted therein. The period of enlistment shall be three years, except in the case of persons who served in the Army, Navy, or Marine Corps at some time between April 6, 1917, and November 11, 1918, who may be enlisted for one-year periods and who in time of peace shall be entitled to discharge within ninety days if they make application therefor. Enlistments shall be limited to persons eligible for enlistment in the Regular Army who have had such military or technical training as may be prescribed by regulations of the Secretary of War, except that for original enlistments of such specialists in units as may be prescribed by regulations of the Secretary of War the maximum age shall be forty-five years. All enlistments in force at the outbreak of war, or entered into during its continuation, whether in the Regular Army or the Enlisted Reserve Corps, shall continue in force until six months after its termination unless sooner terminated by the President." [Public, No. 439] Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Navy be, and he is hereby, authorized to transfer to the Rich- mond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad Company, a corpora- tion of the State of Virginia, by appropriate deed of conveyance, free from all encumbrances and without cost to the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad Company all right, title, and interest of the United States in and to the following parcels of land contained within the Marine Corps Reservation at Quantico, Virginia, as indicated by metes and bounds descriptions on blueprint "P. W Drawing No. 665, approved August 19, 1938", and "Right of Way and Track Map of Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad Company V-1/40", both on file in the Navy Department: Parcel 1.
