INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS OTHER THAN TREATIES [54 STAT. Parties of the Second Part for damage caused to equipment, or for death or injury to others in- cident to any accident in which he may be involved under the provisions of this contract. The senior officer will assure normally the direct relations with the Minister of War, the Chief of Staff of the Army and the Com- manding Officer of the Air Force. Article 2. This agreement shall continue in effect for a period of one year from the date of its signature and shall supersede the agreement signed September 12, 1939.1 Article 3. The present agree- ment is subject to extension by mutual consent at its expiration for a period of one year. Article 4. It is agreed that the services to be rendered by the Parties of the Second Part, as set forth in Article 1, may be sus- pended in the event that any of the armed forces of Argentina en- gage in activities other than those normally carried on during times of peace. It is agreed further that in case of war being declared between the Argentine Republic and any other nation, or between the United States and any other nation, the present agreement may be terminated, subject to the re- turn of the officers, their families and household effects to the United States, as indicated in Articles 13, 14, 15, 16 and 19. Article 5. El presente con- trato puede ser extendido por con- sentimiento mutuo a su venci- miento, por un nuevo periodo de un anio. Articulo 40. Se conviene que los servicios que deban prestar las Segundas Partes segfn se esta- blece en el Articulo 10 podran ser suspendidos, en el caso de que cualquiera de las Fuerzas Armadas de la Repfiblica Argentina tome parte en otras actividades que aquellas que se ejercen normal- mente en tiempo de paz. Se con- viene ademAs que en caso de declaraci6n de guerra entre la Republica Argentina y cualquiera otra naci6n, o entre los Estados Unidos y cualquiera otra naci6n, podra considerarse rescindido el presente contrato, disponi6ndose el regreso de los oficiales, sus fami- las y efectos personales a los E.E .U .U . en la forma indicada en los Articulos 13, 14, 15, 16 y 19.
