DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE PATENT OFFICE Salaries: For an additional amount for personal services in the Patent Office in the District of Columbia, fiscal year 1942, $48,000. NATIONAL BUREAU OF STANDARDS Operation and administration: For an additional amount for the general operation and administration of the Bureau, including the objects specified under this head in the "Department of Commerce Appropriation Act, 1942", and for the purchase of land adjacent to the Bureau, fiscal year 1942, $10,420: Provided, That not to exceed $50,000 of all funds available to the National Bureau of Standards by appropriation and transfer may be expended for payment of part- time or intermittent employment in the District of Columbia, or elsewhere, of such scientists and technicians as may be contracted for by the Secretary of Commerce, in his discretion, at a rate of pay not exceeding $25 per diem for any person so employed. Testing, inspection, and information service: For an additional amount for testing at the National Bureau of Standards, including the objects specified under this head in the "Department of Commerce Appropriation Act, 1942", and the installation of electric wiring in the concrete test track at the Public Roads Administration proving ground near the District of Columbia, fiscal year 1942, $53,500. Research and development: For an additional amount for research and development at the National Bureau of Standards, including the objects specified under this head in the "Department of Commerce Appropriation Act, 1942," fiscal year 1942, $15,950. Standards for commerce: For an additional amount for developing standards for commerce, including the objects specified under this head in the "Department of Commerce Appropriation Act, 1942," fiscal year 1942, $18,540. The limitation prescribed in the "Department of Commerce Appro- priation Act, 1942," on the amount which may be expended for personal services in the National Bureau of Standards in the District of Columbia, is hereby increased from $1,905,000 to $1,961,000. DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR BUREAU OF RECLAMATION Minidoka project, Idaho: For continuation of construction, $75,000, from the reclamation fund, special fund, fiscal year 1942, to remain available until expended. For continuation of construction of the following projects in not to exceed the following amounts, respectively, to be expended from the general fund of the Treasury in the same manner and for the same objects as specified for projects in the Interior Department Appropriation Act, 1942, under the caption "Bureau of Reclamation", fiscal year 1942, to remain available until expended, and to be reim- bursable under the reclamation law: Grand Coulee Dam project, Washington, $6.000.000; and Tucum- cari project, New Mexico, $750,000; in all, $6,750,000. 751 Proviso.
