INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS OTHER THAN TREATIES [55 STAT. ARTICLE VIII Allmaterials, supplies and equip- ment for the construction, use and operation of the defense establish- iment and for the personal needs of military and civilian personnel of the United States, and their fam- ilies, shall be permitted entry into Greenland free of customs duties, excise taxes, or other charges, and the said personnel, and their families, shall also be exempt from all forms of taxation, assess- ments or other levies by the Danish authorities in Greenland. ARTIKEL VIII Alt Materiel, Forraad og Udstyr til Anleg, Benyttelse og Drift af Forsvarsanleggene og til Amerikas Forenede Staters militere og civile Personnel og deres Familiers per- sonlige Behov skal tillades indf0rt i Gr0nland fri for Told, Akcise eller andre Afgifter, og naevnte Personnel og deres Familier skal ligeledes vsere fritaget for enhver Form for Beskatning, Paaligninger og andre Udskrivninger foretaget af de danske Myndigheder i Gr0n- land. ARTICLE IX ARTIKEL IX The Government of the United States of America will respect all legitimate interests in Greenland as well as all the laws, regulations and customs pertaining to the na- tive population and the internal administration of Greenland. In exercising the rights derived from this Agreement the Government of the United States will give sym- pathetic consideration to all repre- sentations made by the Danish authorities in Greenland with re- spect to the welfare of the inhabi- tants of Greenland. ARTICLE X This Agreement shall remain in force until it is agreed that the present dangers to the peace and security of the American Conti- nent have passed. At that time the modification or termination of the Agreement will be the subject of consultation between the Gov- ernment of the United States of America and the Government of Denmark. After due consultation has taken place, each party shall have the right to give the other party notice of its intention to De Amerikanske Forenede Sta- ters Regering vil respektere alle legitime Interesser i Gr0nland, saavelsom alle Love, Regulativer og Saedvaner med Hensyn til den indf0dte Befolkning og til Admi- nistrationen i Gr0nland. Under Ud0velsen af Rettigheder, hidr0- rende fra n.ervserende Overens- komst, vil Amerikas Forenede Staters Regering velvilligt overveje enhver Forestilling, som de danske Myndigheder i Gr0nland maatte g0re med Hensyn til Gr0nlands Beboeres Velfwerd. ARTIKEL X Nwerverende Overenskomst skal forblive i Kraft, indtil der er Enighed om, at de nuverende Farer for det amerikanske Konti- nents Fred og Sikkerhed er oph0rt. Til den Tid vil Overenskomstens Endring eller Oph0r blive Gen- stand for Konference mellem de Amerikanske Forenede Staters Re- gering og Danmarks Regering. Enhver af Parterne skal have Ret til, efter at passende Konference bar fundet Sted, at tilkendegive den anden Part sin Hensigt om at Exemption from customs duties, taxes, etc. Respect for native laws, customs, etc Duration.
