UNION CATALOGUES Salaries and expenses: To continue the development and mainte- nance of the Union Catalogues including personal services within and without the District of Columbia (and not to exceed $700 for special and temporary services, including extra special services of regular employees, at rates to be fixed by the Librarian), travel, necessary material and apparatus, stationery, photostat supplies, and incidentals, $51,700. INCREASE OF THE LBRARY OF CONGRESS General increase of Library: For purchase of books, miscellaneous periodicals and newspapers, photo-copying supplies and photo-copy- ing labor, and all other material for the increase of the Library, including payment in advance for subscription books and society publications, and for freight, commissions, and traveling expenses not to exceed $20,000, including expenses of attendance at meetings when incurred on the written authority and direction of the Librarian in the interest of collections, and all other expenses incidental to the acquisition of books, miscellaneous periodicals and newspapers, and all other material for the increase of the Library, by purchase, gift, bequest, or exchange, $198,000, to continue available during the fiscal year 1945. Increase of the law library: For the purchase of books and for legal periodicals for the law library, including payment for legal society publications and for freight, commissions, traveling expenses not to exceed $2,500, including expenses of attendance at meetings when incurred on the written authority and direction of the Librarian in the interest of collections, and all other expenses incidental to the acquisition of lawbooks, and all other material for the increase of the law library, $95,000, to continue available during the fiscal year 1945. Books for the Supreme Court: For the purchase of books and periodicals for the Supreme Court, to be a part of the Library of Congress, and purchased by the Marshal of the Supreme Court, under the direction of the Chief Justice, $20,000. BOOKS FOR ADULT BLIND To enable the Librarian of Congress to carry out the provisions of the Act entitled "An Act to provide books for the adult blind", approved March 3, 1931 (2 U. S . C . 135a), as amended, $370,000, 2U.st upp. n, including not exceeding $20,000 for personal services and not exceed- !3 . ing $500 for necessary traveling expenses connected with such service and for expenses of attendance at meetings when incurred on the written authority and direction of the Librarian. PRINTING AND BINDING General printing and binding: For miscellaneous printing and bind- ing for the Library of Congress, including the Copyright Office, and the binding, rebmding, and repairing of library books, and for the Library Buildings, $270,000. Printing the Catalogue of Title Entries of the Copyright Offie: For the publication of the Catalogue of Title Entries of the Copy- right Office and the decisions of the United States courts involving copyright, $30,000. 235
