Defense with a view to ascertain- ing the mutual convenience of the Government of El Salvador and Lieutenant Colonel Byers in re- spect to his leave. Travel and trans- portation expenses. -XIV- The compensation set forth in the preceding clause shall begin on the date of departure of Lieu- tenant Colonel Byers from the United States of America, and it shall continue after the termi- -XII - The expenses of travel and transportation not otherwise pro- vided for in this Agreement shall be borne by Lieutenant Colonel Byers in taking his leave. All travel time, including sea travel, shall count as leave and shall not be in addition to the time author- ized in the preceding clause. - XIII - For the services specified in clause I of this Contract, Lieu- tenant Colonel Byers shall receive from the Salvadoran Government an annual compensation of Two Thousand Six Hundred and Fifty- two Dollars ($2,652.00). This compensation shall be paid pro- portionally during the twelve months of the year, as nearly equally as possible, on the last day of each month. These payments shall be made in Salvadoran na- tional currency and shall be com- puted at the highest rate of ex- change in San Salvador on the day on which due. Payments made outside of El Salvador shall be in the national currency of the United States. Todo el tiempo del viaje incluso viaje por mar, contara como vacaciones y no se tomarA como adici6n al tiempo autorizado de que habla la clausula anterior. - XIII - Por los servicios especificados en la clausula -I - de este Con- trato, el sefor Teniente Coronel Byers recibira del Gobierno de El Salvador una compensaci6n anual de DOS MIL SEISCIENTOS CINCUENTA Y DOS SOLARES ($-2,652.00). Esta compensaci6n debera pagarse proporcionalmente en los doce meses del afio lo mas iguales posibles y el dia ultimo de cada mes. Esos pagos se harAn en moneda nacional salvadorefia y seran calculados al tipo mAs alto de cambio en San Salvador, en el dia que el pago deba hacerse.
