INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS OTHER THAN TREATIES [57 STAT. Effective date of ARTICLE3. Thi Agreement agreement; duration. ARTICLE 3. This Agreement shall come into force on the date of signature and shall continue in force for a period of one year unless previously terminated as hereinafter stipulated. Extension. ARTICLE 4. If the Government of the Republic of Guatemala should desire that the services of the officer be extended beyond the period stipulated in Article 3, it shall make a written proposal to that effect six months before the expiration of this Agreement. Termination. ARTICLE 5. This Agreement may be terminated before the ex- piration of the period of one year prescribed in Article 3, or before the expiration of the extension authorized in Article 4, in the following manner: (a) By either of the Govern- ments, subject to three months' written notice to the other Gov- ernment. ,(b) By the recall of the officer by the Government of the United States of America in the public interest of the United States of America, without necessity of compliance with provision (a) of this Article. This Agreement is subject to cancelation, upon the initiation of either the Govern- ment of the United States of America or the Government of the Republic of Guatemala at any time during a period when either Government is involved in do- mestic or foreign hostilities. Replacenent in case ARTICLE 7. Should the officer ofdislibility. become unable to perform his duties by reason of continued physical disability, he shall be re- placed. ARTfCULO 3. Este Acuerdo comenzara a regir en la fecha de su firma y continuara vigente por el periodo de un ano, a menos que sea terminado antes en la forma que se establece mas ade- lante. ARTfCULO 4. Si el Gobierno de la Republica de Guatemala deseare que se prorroguen los servicios del oficial mas alla del periodo estipulado en el Articulo 3, hara una propuesta por escrito con este objeto seis meses antes de la expiraci6n de este Acuerdo. ARTfCULO 5. Este Acuerdo podra terminarse antes de la ex- piraci6n del periodo de un afno prescrito en el Articulo 3, o antes de expirar la pr6rroga autorizada en el Articulo 4, de la manera siguiente: (a) Por cualquiera de los dos Gobiernos, mediante aviso por escrito con tres meses de antici- paci6n al otro Gobierno. (b) Al retirar el Gobierno de los Estados Unidos de America al oficial, en interes pdblico de los Estados Unidos de America, sin necesidad de cumplir con el inciso (a) de este Articulo. ARTfcuLO 6. Este Acuerdo esta sujeto a cancelaci6n por inicia- tiva, ya sea del Gobierno de los Estados Unidos de America o del Gobierno de la Republica de Guatemala, en cualquier tiempo durante un periodo en que cual- quiera de los dos Gobiernos se vea envuelto en hostilidades in- ternas o externas. ARTfCULO 7. El oficial sera re- emplazado si queda inhabilitado para el cumplimiento de sus de- beres por raz6n de incapacidad fisica prolongada. 1012
