CONCURRENT RESOLUTIONS FIRST SESSION, SEVENTY-EIGHTH CONGRESS JOINT MEETING Resolved by the House of Representatives (the Senate concurring), That the two Houses of Congress assemble in the Hall of the House of Representatives on Thursday, the 7th day of January 1943, at 12:30 o'clock in the afternoon, for the purpose of receiving such communi- cations as the President of the United States shall be pleased to make to them. Passed January 7, 1943. January 7, 1943 [H. Con. Res. 1] Communications from the President. MESSAGE OF FRIENDSHIP AND SOLIDARITY FROM NATIONAL ASSEMBLY February 26,1943 OF REPUBLIC OF PANAMA [S. Con. Res. 5] Whereas there have always existed close ties of friendship between the United States of America and the Republic of Panama; and Whereas these friendly relations, based on the mutual respect and admiration of two free and independent nations, happily grow stronger day by day; and Whereas the government and the people of the Republic of Panama have cooperated wholeheartedly with the United States of America in the present world conflict; and Whereas on January 6, 1943, the National Assembly of Panama gra- ciously adopted a resolution expressing solidarity and extending felicitations to the Congress of the United States: Therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate (the House of Representatives concurring), That the Congress of the United States express its deep appreciation to the National Assembly of the Republic of Panama, and to the people which it represents, for this message of friendship and soli- darity, which had as its inspiration the determination of achieving complete victory over our common enemies and restoring the principles of liberty and democracy throughout the worll. Resolved further, That a copy of this resolution shall be trans- nlitted to the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Panama. Passed February 26, 1943.
