The authority herein granted shall include the authority to acquire lands at such locations as the Secretary of the Navy may deem best suited to the purpose of the authority herein contained, erect or extend buildings, acquire the necessary machinery and equip- ment, and shall be in addition to all authority heretofore granted for these purposes. SEC. 3 . The Secretary of the Navy from time to time, but not less frequently than every sixty days, shall transmit to the Congress a full report of all acquisitions of land, by lease or otherwise, effected under the authority of this Act. [CHAPTER 98] AN ACT To extend the time within which the States of Montana, North Dakota, and Wyoming may negotiate and enter into a compact or agreement for division of the waters of the Yellowstone River. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Act entitled "An Act granting the consent of Congress to the States of Montana and Wyoming to negotiate and enter into a compact or agreement for division of the waters of the Yellowstone River , approved August 2, 1937 (50 Stat. 551), as amended and extended by the Act entitled "An Act granting the consent of Congress to the States of Montana, North Dakota, and Wyoming to negotiate and enter into a compact or agreemento r r division of the waters of the Yellowstone River", approved June 15, 1940 (54 Stat. 399), is further amended by striking out "June 1, 1943" and inserting in lieu thereof "June 1, 1947". Approved March 16, 1944. [CHAPTER 101] AN ACT AN ACT To amend section 31 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled That section 31 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 is amended to read as follows: "R EGIMTRATION FEES Acqusition of lands, etc. Reports to Con- gress. March 16, 1944 [8. 1387] [Public Law 2671 Yellowstone River compact. Time extension for negotiation, etc. March 17, 1944 [S. 1146] [Public Law 258] Securities Exchange Act of 1934, amend- ment. 48 Stat. 904. 1658. S.S . 78ee. "SEc. 31. Every national securities exchange shall pay to the Com- mission on or before March 15 of each calendar year a registration fee for the privilege of doing business as a national securities exchange during the preceding calendar year or any part thereof. Such fee shall be in an amount equal to one five-hundredths of 1 per centum of the aggregate dollar amount of the sales of securities (other than securities which are direct obligations of or obligations guaranteed as to principal or interest by the United States or such securities issued or guaranteed by corporations in which the United States has a direct or an indirect interest as shall be designated for exemption from the provisions of this section by the Secretary of the Treasury) trans- acted on such national securities exchange during the preceding calen- dar year and subsequent to its registration as a national securities exchange."
