SEC. 3 . That the Secretary of War is hereby authorized to allot not to exceed $300,000 from any appropriations heretofore or here- after made for any one fiscal year for improvement of rivers and harbors, for removing accumulated snags and other debris, and for protecting, clearing, and straightening channels in navigable harbors and navigable streams and tributaries thereof, when in the opinion of the Chief of Engineers such work is advisable in the interest of navigation or flood control. The paragraph in section 1 of the River and Harbor Act approved July 25, 1912, relating to removal of tem- porary obstructions, as amended by section 3 of the River and Harbor Act approved July 3, 1930, and section 3 of the River and Harbor Act approved October 17,1940, is hereby repealed. 23 Alaska.
