[CHAPTER 114] May 15, 145 [S. 71] [Private Law 60] Guardian of Estella RuiL. AN ACT For the relief of the legal guardian of Estella Ruiz. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to the legal guardian of Estella Ruiz, a minor, of Phoenix, Arizona, the sum of $1,350, in full satisfaction of all claims against the United States for compensation for the personal injuries sustained by the said Estella Ruiz, and medical expenses incurred for her treatment, as the result of an accident involving an Army airplane which occurred in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 22, 1944: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. [CHAPTER 115] AN ACT For the relief of June I. Gradijan. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That notwithstand- ing provisions contained in the Department of Agriculture Appro- priation Act, 1943, Public Law Numbered 674, Seventy-seventh Con- gress, second session (56 Stat. 664), prohibiting the payment of compensation therefrom to officers or employees who are not citizens of the United States, the Comptroller General of the United States is hereby authorized and directed to allow credit in the settlement of dis- bursing officers' accounts, and relieve certifying officers of liability for such payment for services rendered by June I. Gradijan, while em- ployed in the Department of Agriculture during the fiscal year 1943, as are otherwise correct and legal. SEC. 2 . June I. Gradijan shall not be required to refund the com- pensation received for such services; and any amounts which have been collected or paid as a refund of such compensation shall be repaid to the person making the payment.
