PUBLIC LAWS-CHS. 55 -58--MAY 15, 1947 [61 STAT. approved, and paid as are like fees, costs, and expenses in the courts of the United States. All fines, fees, costs, and expenses imposed and collected shall be deposited by the commissioner, or by the marshal of the United States collecting the same, with the clerk of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. Approved May 15, 1947. [CHAPTER 56] AN ACT To authorize the juvenile court of the District of Columbia in proper cases to waive jurisdiction in capital offenses and offenses punishable by life im- prisonment. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That section 13 of the Act of June 1, 1938, 52 Stat. 599 (11 D. C . Code 914), be, and the same is hereby, amended as follows: "SEC. 13. If a child sixteen years of age or older is charged with an offense which would amount to a felony in the case of an adult, or any child charged with an offense which if committed by an adult is punishable by death or life imprisonment, the judge may, after full investigation, waive jurisdiction and order such child held for trial under the regular procedure of the court which would have jurisdiction of such offense if committed by an adult; or such other court may exercise the powers conferred upon the juvenile court in this Act in conducting and disposing of such cases." R . 1363] [Public Law 55] 56 Stat. 361 . 37U.S.C. 104. Allowances based on purported mar- riage. AN ACT To provide that the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia shall alone appoint the United States commissioner for the Shenandoah National Park. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the first sen- tence of section 5 of the Act entitled "An Act to direct the Secretary of the Interior to notify the State of Virginia that the United States assumes police jurisdiction over the lands embraced within the Shen- andoah National Park, and for other purposes", approved August 19, 1937 (U. S . C., 1940 edition, title 16, sec. 403c-5). is amended by strik- ing out "upon the recommendation and approval of the Secretary of the Interior of a qualified candidate". Approved May 15, 1947. [CHAPTER 58] AN ACT To amend further the Pay Readjustment Act of 1942, as amended. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Pay Read- justment Act of 1942, as amended, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph at the end of section 4 thereof: "Payments of allowances which have been or hereafter may be made under this Act based on a purported marriage and made prior to judicial annulment or termination of such marriage are valid: Provided,That it is adjudged or decreed by a court of competent juris- diction that the marriage was entered into in good faith on the part
