WHEREAS the Senate of the United States of America by their resolution of June 5, 1947, two-thirds of the Senators present concurring therein, did advise and consent to the ratification of the said Treaty; WHEREAS the said Treaty was duly ratified by the President of the United States of America on June 14, 1947, in pursuance of the aforesaid advice and consent of the Senate; WHEREAS it is provided in Article 90 of the said Treaty that the Treaty shall come into force immediately upon the deposit with the Government of the French Republic of ratifications by the United States of America, by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and by France; WHEREAS instruments of ratification were deposited with the Government of the French Republic on September 15, 1947 by the United States of America, by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and by France; AND WHEREAS instruments of ratification were also deposited with the Govern- ment of the French Republic on September 4, 1947 by the People's Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and on September 15, 1947 by Canada, by India, and by Italy; Now, THEREFORE, be it known that I, Harry S. Truman, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim and make public the said Treaty of Peace with Italy to the end that the same and every article and clause thereof shall be observed and fulfilled with good faith, on and after September 15, 1947, by the United States of America and by the citizens of the United States of America and all other persons subject to the jurisdiction thereof, and do hereby further proclaim that the state of war between the United States of America and Italy terminated on September 15, 1947. IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have caused the Seal of the United States of America to be hereunto affixed.
