R. 6301] [Public Law 436] AN ACT [63 STAT. To increase the retired pay of certain members of the former Lighthouse Service. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the annual rate of retired pay received by any person who was retired on or before June 29, 1949, under section 6 of the Act of June 20, 1918, as amended and supplemented (33 U. S . C., 1946 edition, 763-765) shall be increased by $360 effective on the first day of the calendar month following enactment of this Act. Approved October 29, 1949. [CHAPTER 789] AN ACT To provide for parity in awards of disability compensation. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Disability copen- United States of America in Congress assembled, That any person sation. otherwise eligible for disability compensation under the World War 43 Stat. 607. 38 U. s.t. § 421 Veterans' Act, 1924, as restored with limitations by Public Law Num- tt. 6q24. bered 141, Seventy-third Congress, March 28, 1934, as amended, shall 38 U. . C. § 366 et be entitled to monthly compensation of $150 if and while the disability 8q ' is rated as total, and if and while partially disabled an amount having the same ratio to $150 as the degree of his disability bears to the total disability. [CHAPTER 790] JOINT RESOLUTION To vest title to certain lands of the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation, North Dakota, in the United States, and to provide compensation therefor. Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That, if within six months from the date of its enactment the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation accept the provisions of this Act by an affirmative vote of a majority of the adult members, the sums herein provided for shall be made available as herein specified; and all right, title and interest of said tribes, allottees and heirs of allottees in and to the lands constituting the Taking Area described in section 15 (including all elements of value above or below the surface) shall vest in the United States of America. SEC. 2. The fund of $5,105,625 appropriated by the War Depart- ment Civil Appropriation Act, 1948 (Public Law 296, Eightieth Con- gress), shall not lapse into the Treasury as provided therein, but shall be available for disbursement under the direction of the Com- missioner of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Indian Affairs, United States Department of the Interior (hereinafter called the "Commissioner") for the following purposes: (a) Payment for tribal and allotted Indian lands and improve- ments, including heirship interests, and values above and below the surface, within the Taking Area; (b) Costs of relocating and reestablishing the members of the tribes who reside within the Taking Area; and 1026
