Acceptance of gifts, etc. provide for the settlement of claims for damage to or loss or destruc- tion of property or personal injury or death caused by military per- sonnel or civilian employees, or otherwise incident to activities, of the War Department or of the Army", as amended, or under the "Federal Tort Claims Act", as codified by the Act of June 25, 1948 (62 Stat. 983; 28 U. S . C. 2672): Provided, That no part of the amounts appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum of any claim shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or agents, attorney or attorneys, on account of services rendered in connection with such claim, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved March 23, 1949. [CHAPTER 31] AN ACT To authorize certain personnel and former personnel of the Naval Establishment to accept certain gifts and a foreign decoration tendered by foreign govern- ments.
