B . Peters and located at 310 Drayton Street, Savannah, Georgia. A lease providing for the rental of such property by the United States at the rate of $420 per annum was signed on November 3, 1944, by the said Florence Bryant Peters and E. B . Peters. On October 4, 1945, the War Department returned such lease unsigned by any representative of the United States, although the War Department had had the use of such property since November 3, 1944: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any con- tract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved July 13, 1949. [CHAPTER 316] AN ACT For the relief of Alvin G. Patton. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Alvin G. Patton, Los Angeles, California, the sum of $221.13. Such sum represents pay- ment for one hundred and eighty-nine hours of accumulated annual leave earned by the said Alvin G. Patton while employed under contract N244s-37735, dated September 1, 1943, in the district security office, headquarters, Eleventh Naval District, San Diego, California, for the period beginning September 1, 1943, and ending June 30, 1944. Funds were not available after June 30, 1944, to renew such contract, and therefore, the services of the said Alvin G. Patton were terminated without an opportunity for him to take such accumulated leave: Pro- vided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with this claim, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. [CHAPTER 317] AN ACT For the relief of the estate of James F. Delahanty, deceased. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $5,000, to the estate of James F. Delahanty, deceased, of Boston, Massachusetts, in full settlement of all claims against the United States as compensation for the death of the said James F. Delahanty who was killed as a result of an accident involving a United States Army vehicle near Pozzuoli, Italy, on May 28, 1945.
