S. C. 55a), in an amount not to exceed $100,000: Provided, That the rates for individuals shall not Damage claims exceed $100 per diem; for payment of claims for damage to or loss of property, personal injury, or death, arising out of the survey, con- struction, operation, or maintenance of works by the Bureau of Recla- mation; payment for official telephone service in the field hereafter Rewardsincurred in case of official telephones installed in private houses when authorized under regulations established by the Secretary; payment of rewards, when specifically authorized by the Secretary, for infor- mation leading to the apprehension and conviction of persons found guilty of the theft, damage, or destruction of public property; pay- ments to school districts in accordance with the Act of June 29, 1948 3 Sat.1 spp. (Public Law 835), including payments on account of dependents of 3,§§ 385as. b. employees in field offices in project areas engaged in construction and Restriction. related activities: Provided, That no part of any sum provided for in this Act for operation and maintenance of any project or division of a project by the Bureau of Reclamation shall be used for the irriga- tion of any lands within the boundaries of an irrigation district which has contracted with the Bureau of Reclamation and is in arrears for more than twelve months in the payment of any charges due the United States, and no part of any sum provided for in this Act for such purpose shall be used for the irrigation of any lands which have contracted with the Bureau of Reclamation and are in arrears for eoe more than twelve months in the payment of any charges due from tnadis of recre a - said lands to the United States: Providedfurther, That funds appro- priated for the Bureau of Reclamation shall be available for expendi- ture through the facilities of the National Park Service in amounts of not to exceed $25,000 for any one reservoir area for studies of recre- ational areas and planning for their utilization, and funds so expended shall not be reimbursable or returnable under the reclamation law. C . 391, 411), and therein designated "the reclamation fund", to be available immediately: GENERAL OFFICES Salaries and expenses (other than project offices): For expenses necessary during the current fiscal year, including personal services in the District of Columbia, in the administration and performance by other than project offices of Bureau of Reclamation functions $4,300,000, to be available for the purposes, among others, specified under the head "Operation and maintenance administration", Bureau 778 [63 STAT.
