R . 1579] To amend the Printing Act of January 12, 1895, as amended, with respect to the [Public Law 44] printing of extra copies of congressional hearings and other documents. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the PrintingActof1895, United States of America in Congress assembled, That so much of amendment. paragraph 4 of section 2 of the Printing Act of January 12, 1895, as 34 Stat. 1013 . amended (U. S. C., 1946 edition, title 44, sec. 133), as precedes the second proviso therein is hereby amended to read as follows: Egtr iesof hear- Pe.AR 4. Orders for printing extra copies, otherwise than herein provided for, shall be by simple, concurrent, or joint resolution. Either House may print extra copies to the amount of $1,200 by simple resolution; if the cost exceeds that sum, the printing shall be ordered by concurrent resolution, except when the resolution is self-appro- priating, when it shall be by joint resolution. Such resolutions, when presented to either House, shall be referred immediately to the Com- mittee on House Administration of the House of Representatives or the Committee on Rules and Administration of the Senate, who, in making their report, shall give the probable cost of the proposed printing upon the estimate of the Public Printer; and no extra copies Cost limitation shall be printed before such committee has reported: Provided,That the printing of additional copies may be performed upon orders of the Joint Committee on Printing within a limit of $700 in cost in any Approved April 19, 1949.
