the Act entitled "An Act to establish a code of law for the District of Columbia", approved March 3, 1901, as amended by the Act approved June 30, 1902 (title 20, sec. 605, D. C. Code, 1951), is further amended by striking out the word "three" in line 5 and inserting in lieu thereof the word "six" and by striking out the word "three" in line seven and inserting in lieu thereof the word "four". Public Law 183 AN ACT

To amend the Act entitled "An Act to incorporate the American University", approved February 24, 1893, so as to clarify the relations between the Board of Trustees of the American University and the Board of Education of the Methodist Church, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Act entitled "An Act to incorporate the American University", approved February 24, 1893, as amended, is amended by redesignating section 2 thereof to be section 3, and by inserting after the first section thereof a new section as follows: "SEC. 2. (a) After the date of enactment of this section— "(1) no person shall be elected to the board of trustees of the corporation unless the election of such person has been approved by the Board of Education of the Methodist Church; members of the board of trustees shall hold office until their successors are elected; "(2) all property, both real and personal, of the corporation shall be held in perpetuity for educational purposes under the auspices of the Methodist Church and subject to the terms and provisions of the Discipline of the Methodist Church; and "(3) the board of trustees of the corporation shall not propose any amendment by the Congress to this Act unless the proposal of such amendment has been previously approved by the Board of Education of the Methodist Church, "(b) In the case of any violation by the corporation or the board of trustees of any of the provisions of subsection (a) of this section, all right, title, and interest of the corporation in and to all property, both real and personal, of the corporation shall vest in the Board of Education of the Methodist Church, a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Tennessee, or its successor." CHAPTER 310

AN ACT To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to grant easements for rights-of-way through, over, and under the parkway land along the line of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, and to authorize an exchange of lands with other Federal departments and agencies, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Interior is hereby authorized and directed to grant perpetual easements, subject to such reasonable conditions as are necessary for the protection of the Federal interests, for rights-of-way through, over, or under the parkway lands along the line of the Chesapeake and Ohio
