CHAPTER 440

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of Americain Congress assembled, That sections 15 to 20, inclusive, of the Act entitled "An Act to provide compensation for employees of the United States suffering injuries while in the performance of their duties, and for other purposes", approved September 7, 1916, as amended (U.S.C. 1940 edition, title 5, secs. 765-769; Supp. V, title 5, sec. 770), are hereby waived in favor of Frank L. McCartha, of Chapin, South Carolina, Kural Free Delivery 2, and his claim for compensation for disability resulting from alleged personal injury sustained in contracting tuberculosis while engaged in the performance of his duties as an automobile body repair man with the United States Engineer's Office of the W a r Department, at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, on or about October 7, 1944, is authorized and directed to be considered and acted upon under the remaining provisions of such Act, as amended, if he files such claim with the Bureau of Employees' Compensation, Department of Labor, not later than sixty days after the date of enactment of this Act: Provided, That no benefits, other than hospital and medical expenses actually incurred, shall accrue prior to the enactment of this Act.
