BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

April 8, 1958 [No. 3231]

A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS the health, prosperity, and well-being of our rural families are vital to the strength of the Nation; and WHEREAS accidents suffered by the rural inhabitants of our land result in thousands of injuries and deaths each year and constitute a serious social and economic problem; and WHEREAS experience has shown that these accidents can be reduced through educational programs directed towards safety precautions in the homes, in the fields, and on the highways: Matinnai Farm NOW, THEREFORE, I, DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER, President safety week. 1958. of the United States of America, do hereby call upon the people of the Nation to observe the week beginning July 20, 1958, as National Farm Safety Week, and I urge all farm families and all persons allied with agriculture to join in a continuing campaign to prevent needless accidents in the homes, in the fields, and on the highways. I also request all persons and organizations interested in the welfare of farm people to support and participate in National Farm Safety Week. I N WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the United States of America to be affixed. A PROCLAMATION WHEREAS the Second Annual United States World Trade Fair is to be held at New York, New York, from May 7 to May 17, 1958, inclusive, for the purposes of exhibiting and promoting the sale of foreign and domestic products to the American trade and to the public; and WHEREAS the Congress, by a joint resolution approved March 28, 1958 (72 Stat. 70), has authorized the President, by proclamation or in such other manner as he may deem proper, to invite the States of the Union and foreign countries to participate in the Second Annual United States World Trade Fair; and WHEREAS this exhibition and trade gathering will tend to encourage further development of international trade and to foster friendlv relations among participating nations: NOW, THEREFORE, I, DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER, President of the United States of America, do hereby invite the States of the Union and foreign countries to participate in the Second Annual United States World Trade Fair to be held in the Coliseum in New York, New York, from May 7 to May 17, 1958, inclusive.
