NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION SALUVRIES AND E X P E N S E S

For expenses necessary to carry out the purposes of the National Science Foundation Act of 1950, as amended {i'2 U.S.C. 1861-1875), including award of graduate fellowships; services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 55a); maintenance and operation of one aircraft; purchase of flight services for research support; hire of passenger motor vehicles; not to exceed $2,500 for official reception and representation expenses; and reimbursement of the General Services Administration for security guard services: $479,999,000, to remain available until expended: Provided, That of the foregoing amount not less than $37,600,000 shall be available for tuition, grants, and allowances in connection with a program of supplementary training for secondary school science and mathematics teachers: Provided further, That not to exceed $1,000,000 of the foregoing appropriation may be used to purchase foreign currencies which accrue under title I of the Agricultural Trade Development and Assistance Act of 1954, as amended (7 LT.S.C. 1704), for the purposes authorized by section 104(k) of that Act: Provided further, That no part of the foregoing appropriation may be transferred to any other agency of the government for research without the approval of the Bureau of the Budget.

For necessary expenses of the Renegotiation Board, including hire of passenger motor vehicles and services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 55a), $2,500,000. S E C U R I T I E S AND E X C H A N G E COMMISSION SALARIES AND EXPENSES

For necessary expenses, including uniforms or allowances therefor, as authorized by law (5 U.S.C. 2131), and services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 1946 (5 LT.S.C. 55a), at rates for individuals not to exceed $100 per diem, $16,442,000.

SELECTIVE SERVICE SYSTEM SALARIES AND EXPENSES

For expenses necessary for the operation and maintenance of the Selective Service System, as authorized by title I of the Universal Military Training and Service Act (62 Stat. 604), as amended, in- ^J' sf*^^-J^; 50 u e app. eluding services as authorized by section 15 of the Act of August 2, 451, 1946 (5 U.S.C. 55a); expenses of attendance at meetings and of training for uniformed personnel assigned to the Selective Service System, as authorized by law (5 U.S.C. 2301-2318) for civilian employees; 72 Stat. 327. hire of motor vehicles; purchase of nineteen passenger motor vehicles for replacement only; not to exceed $62,000 for the National Selective Service Appeal Board; and $38,000 for the National Advisory Committee on the Selection of Physicians, Dentists, and Allied Specialists: $49,250,000: Provided, That during the current fiscal year, the President may exempt this appropriation from the provisions of subsection (c) of section 3679 or the Revised Statutes, as amended, whenever 31 USC ees. he deems such action to be necessary in the interest of national defense.
