FLOOD CONTROL, M I S S I S S I P P I RIVER A N D TRIBUTARIES

For expenses necessary for prosecuting work of flood control, and rescue work, repair, restoration, or maintenance of flood control projects threatened or destroyed by flood, as authorized by law (33 U.S.C. 702a, 702g-l), $87,135,000, to remain available until expended, ^/^tft^^ig"^' of which $100,000 shall be available for the construction of road crossings of the Panola-Quitman Floodway at Crowder and Paducah Wells, Mississippi, and $80,000 shall be available for protection of the Sheley Bridge, Tallahatchie Kiver, Mississippi, from bank caving. EXPENSES

For expenses necessary for general administration and related functions in the Office of the Chief of Engineers and offices of the Division Engineers; activities of the Board of Engineers for Rivers and Harbors and the Coastal Engineering Research Center; commercial statistics; and miscellaneous investigations; $18,950,000. ADMINISTRATIVE PROVISIONS

Appropriations in this title shall be available for expenses of attendance by military personnel at meetings in the manner authorized by section 19(b) of the Act of July 7, 1958 (72 Stat. 336), uniforms, 80 Stat. 436. 5 u or allowances therefor, as authorized by law (5 U.S.C. 5901; 80 Stat, note"!^ s e 4110 and 299), and for printing, either during a recess or session of Congress, ^"'e- P- 206. of survey reports authorized by law, and such survey reports as may be printed during a recess of Congress shall be printed, with illustrations, as documents of the next succeeding session of Congress; and during the current fiscal year the revolving fund, Corps of Engineers, shall be available for purchase (not to exceed two hundred and four for replacement only) and hire of passenger motor vehicles: Provided., That the total capital of said fund shall not exceed $162,000,000. EXPENSES

For operating expenses necessary for the Canal Zone Government, "' including operation of the Postal Service of the Canal Zone; hire of passenger motor vehicles; uniforms or allowances therefor, as authorized by law (5 U.S.C. 5901; 80 Stat. 299); expenses incident to con- ^"'^' P- ^ceducting hearings on the Isthmus; expenses of special training of employees of the Canal Zone Government as authorized by 5 U.S.C. 4101-4118; contingencies of the Governor; residence for the Governor; ^° ^*®*- '^^'^• medical aid and support of the insane and of lepers and aid and support of indigent persons legally within the Canal Zone, including expenses of their deportation when practicable; and maintaining and altering facilities of other Government agencies in the Canal Zone for Canal Zone Government use, $36,000,000. For acquisition of land and land under water and acquisition, construction, and rei^lacement of improvements, facilities, structures, and equipment, as authorized by law (2 C.Z. Code, Sec. 2; 2 C.Z.
