For construction and improvement, without regard to the Act of August 24, 1912, as amended (16 U.S.C. 451), of buildings, utilities, and other physical facilities; the repair or replacement of roads, trails, buildings, utilities, or other facilities or equipment damaged or destroyed by fire, flood, or storm, or the construction of projects deferred by reason of the use of funds for such purposes; and the acquisition of water rights; $4,368,000, to remain available until expended. For liquidation of obligations incurred pursuant to authority contained in title 23, United States Code, section 203, $17,000,000, to remain available until expended: Provided, That none of the funds herein provided shall be expended for planning or construction on the following: Fort Washington and Greenbelt Park, Maryland, and Great Falls Park, Virginia, except minor roads and trails; and Daingerfield Island Marina, Virginia, and extension of the George Washington Memorial Parkway from vicinity of Brickyard Eoad to Great Falls, Maryland, or in Prince Georges County, Maryland. For expenses necessary in carrying out a program for the preservation of additional historic properties throughout the Nation, as authorized by law (80 Stat, 915), $583,000, to remain available until expended. GENERAL ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES

For expenses necessary for general administration of the National Park Service, including such expenses in the regional offices, $2,941,000. ADMINISTRATIVE

PROVISIONS

Appropriations for the National Park Service shall be available for the purchase of not to exceed one hundred and thirty-five passenger motor vehicles of which one hundred and twenty-six shall be for replacement only, including not to exceed eighty-three for police-type use which may exceed by $300 each the general purchase price limitation for the current fiscal year. For expenses necessary to carry out the provisions of the Act of July 3, 1952, as amended (42 U.S.C. 1951 et seq.), authorizing studies for the conversion of saline water for beneficial consumptive uses, including not to exceed $1,815,000 for administration and coordination expenses during the current fiscal year, $24,556,000, to remain available until expended: Provided, That the unexpended balances of the appropriations to the Office of Saline Water for "Salaries and expenses and "Operation and maintenance" shall be merged with this appropriation.
