OFFICE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS POLICY SALARIES AND EXPENSES
For expenses necessary for the conduct of telecommunications functions assigned to the Director of Telecommunications Policy, including services as authorized by 5 U. S. C 3109, $2,000,000: Provided, Th&t not to exceed $500,000 of the foregoing amount shall remain available for telecommunications studies and research until expended.
FUNDS APPROPRIATED TO THE PRESIDENT APPALACHIAN REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
For expenses necessary to carry out the programs authorized by the Appalachian Regional Development Act of 1965, as amended, except 8/stat?'2sV. expenses authorized by section 105 of said Act, including services as 4o use ap'p. i. authorized by 5 U.S.C. 3109, and hire of passenger motor vehicles, to remain available until expended, $293,500,000, of which $175,000,000 shall be available for the Appalachian Development Highway System, but no part of any appropriation in this Act shall be available for expenses in connection with commitments for contracts or grants for the Appalachian Development Highway System in excess of the total amount herein and heretofore appropriated. For expenses necessary to carry out the purposes of the Act of September 30, 1950, as amended (42 U.S.C. 1855-1855g), the Disaster ^4 Stat. 1109. Relief Act of 1969 (Public Law 91-79) and section 9 of the Disaster J^ stau ^1^25^.^^^ Relief Act of 1966 (Public Law 89-769), authorizing assistance to note. States and local governments in major disasters, $65,000,000, to remain so Stat. 1320. available until expended: Provided, That not to exceed 3 per centum of '*^ ^^^ isssee. the foregoing amount shall be available for administrative expenses. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE CIVIL DEFENSE OPERATION A N D MAINTENANCE
For expenses, not otherwise provided for, necessary for carrying out civil defense activities, including the hire of motor vehicles; and financial contributions to the States for civil defense purposes, as authorized by law, $50,100,000: Provided, That not to exceed $21,400,000 shall be available for allocation under section 205 of the Federal Civil Defense Act of 1950, as amended.
