To authorize the President to issue a proclamation designating the week beginning on November 20, 1977, as "National Family Week".

Whereas the family is the basic strength of any free and orderly society; and Whereas it is appropriate to honor the family as a unit essential to the continued well-being of the United States; and AVhereas it is fitting that official recognition be given to the importance of family loyalties and ties: Now, therefore, be it Besolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the President is hereby authorized and requested to issue a proclamation designating the week beginning on November 20, 1977, as "National Family Week" and inviting the Governors of the several States, the chief officials of local governments, and the people of the United States to observe such day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.
