Public Law 96-547 96th Congress An Act To amend section 9 of the National Climate Program Act to extend the authorization for appropriations for fiscal years 1981, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled. That section 9 of the National Climate Program Act (15 U.S.C. 2908) is amended to read as follows: "SEC. 9. AUTHORIZATION FOR APPROPRIATIONS.

"In addition to any other funds otherwise authorized to be appropriated for the purpose of conducting climate-related programs, there are authorized to be appropriated to the Secretary, for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of this Act, not to exceed $50,000,000 for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1979, not to exceed $65,000,000 for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1980, and not to exceed $25,500,000 for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1981, of which amount not less than $2,653,000 shall be made directly available to the National Climate Program Office in the form of a budget item separate from the activities of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.". SEC. 2. Section 6(b) of the National Weather Modification Policy Act of 1976 (15 U.S.C. 330e) is amended to read as follows: "There are authorized to be appropriated $150,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1972, $200,000 each for the fiscal years 1973 through 1980, and $100,000 for the fiscal year ending September 30, 1981, to carry out the provisions of this chapter.". Approved December 18, 1980.
