Whereas agnculture is this Nation's most basic industry, and its associated production, processing, and marketing segments, together provide more jobs than any other single industry; and Whereas the productivity of American agriculture is a vital ingredient in our strength as a nation, both domestically and on the world scene; and Whereas to maintain a healthy agriculture it is necessary that all Americans should understand how agriculture affects their lives and well-being, and should be aware of their personal stake in an abundant food and fiber supply: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled. That March 18, National 1982, is hereby proclauned "National Agriculture Day", and the ^s^i^^it^'-e Day. President is authorized and requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities. Approved March 18, 1982.
