SEC. 4. PAYMENT OF COSTS FOR TEMPORARY CARE OF ANIMALS AND PLANTS PENDING DISPOSITION OF PROCEEDINGS.

Section 6(d) of the Lacey Act Amendments of 1981 (16 U.S.C. 3375(d)) and section 11(d) of the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (16 U.S.C. 1540(d)) are each amended— (1) by amending the subsection side heading to read as follows: "REWARDS AND CERTAIN INCIDENTAL EXPENSES.—"; and (2) by amending the first sentence— (A) by striking out "a reward" and inserting in lieu ^ thereof a comma; (B) by inserting "(1) a reward" immediately before "to any person"; and (C) by inserting immediately before the period the following: ", and (2) the reasonable and necessary costs incurred, by any person in providing temporary care for any fish, wildlife, or plant pending the disposition of any civil or criminal proceeding alleging a violation of this Act with respect to that fish, wildlife, or plant".
