PORIFERA The serious difficulties attending the satisfactory identification of many of the sponges have resulted in the accompanying list becoming in places a mere compilation. Large quantities of material from Polperro, off the Dodman, and from Falmouth Bay have been examined from time to time, but the rigorous exclusion of all records where there was any uncertainty as to the identification has made the list in places simply an enumeration of the county specimens mentioned by Bowerbank in his monograph. The classification and nomenclature is that given by Dr. R. Hanitsch in his ' Revision of the generic nomenclature and classification in Bowerbank's Spongiadae,' (Proc. Liverpool Bio!. Soc. viii). 1 . Leucosolenia botryoides, E. & S. Gen. dist. round the coast and in places abund., esp. on sea- weeds between t-m. ; Scilly ! 2. L. complicata, Montagu.
