De- scribed from specimens ob- tained by Reading and Wol- laston in the neighbourhood of Plymouth. In March, 1886, it was found by J. J. Walker at Falmouth ' on the undersides of large stones sunk in the sands in places where a little trickle of fresh water came down from the cliffs above.' Lately it has been taken by Keys on the shore at Mount Edgcumbe in decaying sea-weed upon shingle Phytosus spinifer, Curt. In de- caying sea-weed, Whitsand Bay east balticus, Kr. Whitsand Bay, often abundant (Keys) ; in dead star-fish, Gyllyngvase, Falmouth nigriventris, Chevr. Occurs with balticus at Whitsand Bay, but is rare. Keys, who found it there, says 'The type does not appear to occur, as all the examples I have taken have three and four black abdominal segments instead of the usual two and a half only.' (E. M.
