FRESH WATER ALG^ In the Appendix to Buxton's Botanical Guide to environs of Manchester (16 miles radius), 1849, there are a few records by Professor Wm. C. Williamson, F.R.S., and Mr. Joseph Sidebotham. The following list contains all the species named therein, very little having been added since so far as is known. There must be upwards of a thousand species of F. W. Algas, including diatoms, in the whole county. The meagre lists given below will show how much might be done. B. G.
