years as Honorary Magistrate, Municipal Chairman and President of the School Committee. Pundit Charu Chandra Chaudhuri follows in his father's footsteps, being, in addition to his offices in the Municipality and District Board, Vice- President of the Victoria Academy Committee, Controller of the Co-operative Urban Bank at Sherpur, and Vice-President of the Landholders' Association. With his brothers, he erec- ted the Hara Chandra Hospital ; his donations towards the relief of the poor and afflicted have been most generous, and he is an ardent supporter of educational projects. He is writing a complete history of the Sherpur pargana, a few chapters of which have already been published. He is a Member of the Royal Asiatic Society, Calcutta. His title was conferred on the occasion of the recent Coronation Durbar, in recognition of his great services to the Government and the public. Address: Sherpur, Mymensingh, Bengal.


SEN, Mathura Nath, b. a., b. l., Rai Bahadur, Pleader, was born in January, 1861, and educated at the Hindu School, Calcutta. He is the son the late Babu Chandra Mohan Sen, a wealthly and influential member of society in his part of the country. Babu Mathura Nath Sen has contributed freely to works of public utility, such as roads and canals ; he has served on the Local and District Boards, and was for a time Vice-Chairman of the former body, his services being highlv appreciated. He owns some 10,000 acres of land in the Bakarganj district. His title was conferred on the occasion of the recent Coronation Durbar, in recognition of his public services.
