XXV.
The Lands of Ernulfus de Hesding.

1. Ernulfus de Heſding holds Chivele. Brixi held it T.R.E. and it was then aſſeſſed at 16 hides. Seven hides are in demeſne, where are 6 ploughlands and 10 ſervants. Eighteen villagers and 14 borderers occupy 12 ploughlands. Two mills let for 5 ſhillings. Here are 16 acres of meadow. The paſture is half a mile ſquare. The wood is a mile and a half long, and a quarter of a mile broad. The manor is worth 16 pounds. When it came to Ernulfus it was worth 20 pounds, excepting the ſupport of 2 ſoldiers, which was due from the manor.

2. The ſame Ernulfus holds 3 hides and a yardland in Poterne, which T.R.E. were aſſeſſed with the manor of Poterne. Oſmund, biſhop of Saliſbury, claims theſe lands. Algar, who T.R.E. held them, could not be removed from the church. Robert holds them under
