SCHUMANN-HEINK, Ernestine, (Madame), born June 15, 1861, in Lieben, Austria, daughter of Major and Mrs. Roessler. Married in 1882 to Mr. Heink; second marriage to Paul Schumann; third marriage to William Rapp, Jr. Prima Donna. Principal contralto at the Dresden Royal Opera at the age of 17; appeared October 13, 1878, in Il Trovatore. Secured star engagement at Kroll's Theater at Berlin; gained international reputation at Bayreuth Festivals. For many years with Metropolitan Opera Company at New York City. Widely known as interpreter of Wagnerian roles and in later years as concert singer. Home: 800 Orange Ave., Coronado, California.

SCHWARTZ, Katherine (Mrs. Earl Schwartz), born in Denver, Colorado, March 1, 1890, daughter of Bernhardt J. and Katherine M. Miller, a resident of California for five years. Married to Earl Schwartz, a well-known musical director. Theatre publicity and advertising. Editor, S. F. Soroptimist Club Paper. Former newspaper reporter and dramatic editor. On the Board of Directors of Soroptimist Club. For two years, manager. Little Theater. Member: S. F. Soroptimist, S. F. Advertising Club. Home: 1000 Union St., Apt. 22, San Francisco, Calif.

SCRIPPS, Ellen Browning, (Miss), a native of London, England, resident of California for 37 years. Philanthropist. With her brother, the late E. W. Scripp, co-founder of a chain of wellknown newspapers. Has done considerable editorial and managerial work on newspapers. In later years vitally interested in educational and philanthropic work. Instrumental in founding Bishop School for Girls, La Jolla. Has contributed extensively to Claremont College, La Jolla Library, La Jolla Community Center, San Diego Zoological Gardens, also to Scripps' Biological Institution. SELLMER, Walter B. (Mrs.), born in Hayward, California, September 7, 1902, daughter of John W. and Mary Hamilton Thomford. Married to Captain Walter B. Sellmer. Children: William Ross. State Game Warden. First woman Game Warden in California, the only one in the world as far as is known. Has arrested, since her appointment, November 22, 1927, forty-seven violators of the game laws. Expert rifle and pistol shot. Member: Associated Sportsmen's Club of California, Marin Rod and Gun Club. Home: 230 Forest Ave., Fairfax, Calif.

SESSIONS, Kate O. (Miss), born 1857, in San Francisco, Calif., daughter of Josiah and Harriet S. Sessions, lived and was educated in Oakland, Calif., class of 1881, University of California, and a resident of San Diego, Calif., for past 40 years. Nursery business and planner of gardens. Has been associated with the Horticultural work in the public schools; for twenty-one years a member of the San Diego Floral Association; was one of the committee of five who started and cared for Balboa Park for three years. Has maintained a nursery for growing ornamental shrubbery and cut flowers. An active member of the City Tree Planting Committee; formerly a member of the Cemetery Commission. SEWARD, Myrtle G. (Mrs.), born March 7, 1872, in Kent, Portage County, Ohio, daughter of George and Ellen Grinnell, a resident of California for twenty-three years. Married to Clyde R. Seward. Children: Cora Doris Hudson. Former educator; now active in Social Welfare work. At one time, school principal in Jackson, Michigan. For two vears, president of Ebell Club. SEYMOUR, Elizabeth, “Betty” (Mrs.), born in New York City, November 1, 1884, daughter of William H. and Ida Bell Woodbury Seymour. Her father was a well-known comedian of the glorious '80's; her mother was a singer, writer and clubwoman. A resident of San Diego since 1912. Advertising and publicity. Former Society editor, S. D. Tribune; at on© time Art Critic on Honolulu Star-Bulletin, also political reporter for the same paper. Former court reporter pro-tem in the Superior Courts of San Diego County. Very much interested in school work for betterment of school conditions. First woman member of Honolulu Advertising Club; one of the five founders of S. D. Business and Professional Women's Club.
