WEST, Edith Brake, (Mrs. George F.), born June 18, 1885, in Fowler, Indiana, daughter of Edwin V. and Mary Brake, former resident of Nevada, living in California for the last 7 years. Graduate of Colorado Teacher's College, post-graduate work at Denver University and University of California. WESTERHOUSE, Grace Hoskins, (Mrs.), born in Santa Rosa, California, September 17, 1885, daughter of Thomas Dickens and Grace Oliver Hoskins, former resident of Philippine Islands, living in South Pasadena for the last 5 years. Married to Ernest J. Westerhouse. President, Women's Democratic League of Southern California. A former student of Stanford University. Chairman of the Food Committee in Philippine Islands during the war; established Filipino Women's Clubs throughout the Islands; alternate delegate for Philippines to 1920 Democratic National Convention. WHITAKER, Alma, (Mrs. Jerome Reynolds), born in London, England, April, 1881, daughter of Dr. Wotton and Mrs. Marian Ingall, formerly Mrs. Fullford. Married to Jerome Reynolds (first husband, Harold Whitaker). Children: Colin, Jerome. Writer. For 18 years, special writer and columnist on L.A. Times; specializes in interviewing celebrities. Syndicates feature matter through McClure's Newspaper Syndicate. Her article “The Glories of War” obtained a circulation of 100,000. Foreign correspondent for English, Australian and South African newspapers. Author: “Trousers and Skirts.” Member: Holds complimentary memberships in 37 clubs, including L.A. WHITBECK, Alice Grover (Mrs.), a native of San Francisco, California, daughter of Dr. William A. and Mrs. Marietta Osborn Grover. Married to the late James Logan Whitbeck. Children: Josephine L. Graduate of University of California; School of Library Science, Albany, N. Y., 1903-4; Children's Librarian, Berkeley Public Library, 1905-9; Librarian Richmond Public Library 1909-1913. Lecturer on children's work in different summer school sessions of Library science and also at times in the University of California Library School. Member: Women's City Club, S. F. WHITE, Nellie A. (Mrs.), born in Chatham, Ohio, daughter of Alvin J. and Julia M. Dyer, a resident of California for seven years. Married to Fred H. White. Children: Clayton E. Active in club and civic affairs. Past Deputy Grand Matron, O. E. S. of Ohio. Just finished two year term as president of the Woman's Club of Arcadia.
