CALLAN, Sadie M., (Mrs.), born April 14, 1889, in Emporia, Kansas, daughter of Baxter and Sarah E. Hainline, a resident of California for 6 years. Married to George E. Callan. Children: Emilyn M., Ruth M. Owner of Advertising Agency; publicity and campaign manager. Has done considerable newspaper work for the last 20 years, at one time connected with Advertising Department of L. A. Evening Herald. At present, field secretary, California Clinic for crippled and defective children. Member: Business and Professional Women's Club, Woman's Advertising Club. CALMERTON, Gail Horton (Miss), a native of Wisconsin, daughter of E. Rudolph and M. Rougene Calmerton. A resident of California for five years. Educator. Former Supervisor of Primary Education in the Public Schools of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Interested in all civic and educational matters. Has written educational articles, children's stories and verse. Co-author of “Wheeler Graded Readers”. Author: “Practical Projects, Plays and Games” (book for teachers). For many years, institute instructor and lecturer in theory and practice of primary work. Donor of “The Gail Calmerton Teachers' and Juvenile Library” (2,000 volumes), Fort Wayne, Ind. CAMPBELL, Lenore Sollender, (Mrs.), a native of Iowa, formerly located in Nevada, resident of Healdsburg, California for the last 6 years. Vocalist; Supervisor of Music, Healdsburg High School. CANTER, Mary Jane (Mrs. F. R. Meyer), a native of Harrisburg, Oregon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Crawford Canter, a resident of San Francisco for fourteen years. Married to Frederic R. Meyer. Personnel Director, The White House. Actively interested in young business women's housing problems in San Francisco and Bay cities and lends efforts constantly through personal talks, planning educational programmes, etc., toward inspiring the younger business women to attain a position warranting greater responsibility in business. CARTER, Artie Mason, (Mrs. J. J.), born in Salisbury, Missouri, December 30, 1887, daughter of James Riley and Charlotte Ann Mason, resident of California for the last 14 years. Married to Dr. Joseph J. Carter. Formerly pianist and teacher. Founder of the Summer Concerts in the Hollywood Bowl; for 8 years active in Community Music development in Hollywood; has served as secretary and president of the Hollywood Bowl Ass'n. CASTBERG, Leila, (Mrs.), a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, daughter of Uriah and Hannah Semon, a resident of California for ten years. Married to Biarne Castberg. Graduate of Radcliffe. Founder and pastor of The Church of Divine Power. Former instructor in English and Dramatic Art in preparatory at Ithaca. Member of Le Lyceum in Paris after complying with the requirements of having a book of distinction published and approved by its critics. The first American woman ever admitted to the Conservatoire de Dramatique, Paris. Built in Cincinnati, Ohio, the largest New Thought Temple in the world. CATLAND, Aurelia A., (Mrs. O. S.), a native of California, resident of Santa Ana for the last 26 years. Married to Osgood Smith Catland. Children: Raymond O., Irene D., Alfred C.
