pipe vs poem

After researching how to include a pipe character as text within a template (never found an answer) and online to see how other sites have formatted these prayers, I decided to abandon the pipes and make the text into a poem. The pipes are clearly meant to stand in for line breaks, which the editors of the book decided to condense for space. Space not being an issue in ebooks, I decided to format these prayers as poems, which I find more pleasing than either substituting another character such a a slash for the pipe, or eliminating the pipes to make a paragraph with odd capitalization.
