[edit]"Öffnungen" means orifice, dissemination, opening all of which don't exactly hit the mark. "Voicing" would come close, but implies language. "Expression was chosen as it was semantic close to the other meaning of "Öffnungen" but not implying the human voice, and it allows for "silent expression" for felicitously. Inzitamenten
[edit]The parallelism between "Zwangsmitteln" and the preceding word "Inzitamenten" suggest that the former is a clarifying for the latter. "Inzitamenten" appears to be from a translation of the Brunonian system of medicine. The system focuses on how stimulation excites or "incites" the organism, so excitement or incitement could be chosen translation for "Inzitamenten". Incitement was chosen to maintain a parallelism with the use of the word in Fragments 18 and 84, as well as Fragment 47 in the Paripolema of "Faith and Love"
Zwangsmitteln
[edit]"Zwangsmittel" is mean as clarification, "Zwangsmittel" is typically translated as coercive means, but "mittel" also implies a measure or remedy. The translation, compulsory treatment. was chosen as remaining within Novalis's medical analogy.
Trügliche
[edit]Often translated as deceitful. In this case the meaning of "trugliche"from the second definition in Grimm Wörterbuch, which applies to sensations and does not imply intention seemed appropriate, so misleading was used.
