[edit]"Ungebildete" means the uneducated or the uncultivated, but this was too telegraphic for this sentence to make sense in English so the single word was translated as the combination uncultivated person's choice which keeps it more parallel with the preceding clause. Cultivated was chosen over Educated so as to reduce the imply academic learning was the source.
