- Courts have a legal right to grant new trials in actions for torts, on the ground of excessive damages, and may grant any number until the ends of justice are answered.
- If a party, having leave to amend pleadings, files bad pleas, they may be stricken out on motion.
- A plea which amounts to the general issue, or does not answer the whole charge or count, is bad.
