Paul Bern suicide note  (1932)
by Paul Bern (disputed)

Paul Bern was an MGM film producer, married to the actress Jean Harlow. During the 1932 filming of Red Dust, he was found dead at Harlow's house, naked and shot in the head. It is commonly believed to have been a suicide, although it quickly became a media scandal, complete with rumours about possible suspects.

The note was written on page 13 of a guestbook

Dearest dear,

Unfortunately this is the only way to make good the frightful wrong I have done you and wipe out my abject humiliation. I love you.

You understand that last night was only a comedy.
