OH TO BE IN MICHIGAN.
Oh to be in Michigan, now that May is here!
When the shrilling note of the robin is the earliest sound we hear,
And orchard-blossoms like the snow, are billowing far and near!

Oh to be in Michigan in the glad days of July!
When the crickets chirp, and grasshoppers whir under a cloudless sky;
And the sweet white blackberry blossoms in the wildwood meet the eye!

Oh to be in Michigan in October's purple haze!
With wild geese honking northward through all the blue, bright days;
When beech-leaves all are turning brown and maples redly blaze!

Oh to be in Michigan in joyous winter time!
When diamond sparks are on the snow and merry sleighbells chime;
And voices sweetly mingle in the current of the rime!

Oh to be in Michigan at any time of year!
In bloomy May or hot July, October bright, November sere
Or in the gladsome winter time! No other land's so dear!
