THE FACE UPTURNED
Look not within, for thee 'twill lead to sinning;
Sow not the seed of "I," of" me," of" mine";
Self-love uproot at every fresh beginning,
Its clinging tendrils let not closer twine;
On face upturned the light of heaven will shine.
