"Life's frail bark is tempest toss'd-
"Hope is sinking—all is lost!

A wanderer on life's stormy sea,
My weary bark is tempest driven;
I've sought in vain some port to see,—
In vain to gain some friendly haven.

Then farewell all I fondly love:
The waves of disappointment sever
Those hopes which too falacious prove,
And check their brilliant dreams for ever.
