Proclamation by His Excellency Francis T Nicholls Governor of the State of Louisiana, dated March 7 1878 convening the General Assembly of Louisiana in extra session

PROCLAMATION BY FRANCIS T. NICHOLLS,
GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF LOUISIANA.
Whereas, an extra session of the General Assembly is required for purposes of indispensable legislation :
Therefore, I, Francis T. Nicholls, Governor of the State of Louisiana, have thought proper to issue this, my proclamation, convening the General Assembly of this State to meet in extra session at the State-House, in the city of New Orleans, on Friday, the eighth day of March, A. D. 1878, at 12 o’clock m.,and in pursuance of the provisions of an act of the General Assembly, entitled “An act relative to extra sessions of the General Assembly, and defining the duties of the Governor in reference thereto,” approved February 16, 1870, I hereby direct that the duration of said session shall not exceed the period of fifteen days; and I do hereby specify, among others, the following objects of legislative action during said extra session, to wit: Revenue, Appropriation, Registration and Election, Levees, Penitentiary, Floating Debt, City Charter, and Militia.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name and caused the seal of the State of Louisiana to be hereunto affixed, at the city of New Orleans, this seventh day of March, in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, and of the independence of the United States of America the one hundred and second.
