I haven't been able to confirm this, or find any other works attributed to an author with that name, or find any details of anyone called that on genealogy websites whose details are consistent with the date of publication. Subsequently found a reference (on Internet Archive) in The Practitioner Volume 199, no. 1190, August 1967, pp. 234-238, entitled "A Pioneer Lancastrian Obstetrician: Kinder Wood (1785-1830)", by Walter Radcliffe, which makes reference to his having written this work.
