The record states "descendant of Sir Benjamin Truman, the founder of the firm of brewers,". Sir Benjamin Truman died 20th March 1780, he left no legitimate male issue; see will "Will of Sir Benjamin Truman of Christchurch Spitalfields , Middlesex" National Archives PROB 11/1064/173.
