I am worried editor might be working from different translations from recent changes. Is there a scanned translation of this available?--BirgitteSB 16:40, 21 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Arwald or Atwald?[edit]

diff

I was patrolling recent changes, and saw that an anon had changed Atwald to Arwald in Section 16 of Book 4.[

Normally, if I don't know if a change is good or bad, and if it's not an established editor whom I trust to know what he or she is doing, I leave the patrolling to someone else. In this case, my finger moved too quickly.

This discussion page lists two online sources - Medieval Sourcebook and Christian Classics Ethereal Library. I've had a look and I see that Medieval Sourcebook (scroll down to CHAPTER XVI) gives Atwald, whereas Christian Classics Ethereal Library (second paragraph) gives Arwald.

I'm just pointing that out here. Hopefully someone knowledgeable about Bede, with access to a printed source, watches this page. Cowardly Lion 19:41, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've gone ahead and reverted the edit. Since the user gave no rationale for making the change, I prefer to trust the original contributor and the source it was taken from.—Zhaladshar (Talk) 21:35, 27 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you; I've had a quick read of the Wikipedia page, and I quickly tried to find Arwald in that database by looking in the "Persons" section, without success. Could you give a little guidance so I can see how you arrive at that record? John Vandenberg (chat) 13:25, 8 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
