now elfen lied poem connects to the anime by the specific meaning that the main character Lucy has elfish horns, meaning as in elfish= evil from the puritans point of view. you can take some parts of the poem and the anime to make sense of it. As though who are different are an outcast the so normal society back then. In the poem, but mostly the anime there is a sign of bullying occurrence that is related to each other. The poem and the anime are named the same so it has to be connected in some way. if you understand the anime you might be able to understand the poems' meaning that intertwines to the storyline. The person with "horns" will be bullied and outcasted from the people around them as the same as the elf trying to figure out who called him and ends up getting hit with the stone. That scene right there at the end of the poem... It doesnt really state it being thrown from someone but u can infer that at the end of that line it says "had enough". That's a sign of it being connected with the anime, being alone, mistreated, and bullied because of your indifference same as for lucy being the victim of being betrayed by a human that was suppose to be her so called friend. To where if the poem had continue all hell would have broken loose. Im just stating this as my belief of why the anime was called Elfen Lied. Im hoping that some would agree with my theory of why the creator gave it this title. I believe it has something to do with the storyline and the poem that made him/her choose it. 17 January 2011‎ User:Hirotero

The translation is clearly ad-hoc. The published German text should be (and already is[1]) on de-wikisource. --Dbachmann (talk) 20:32, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It might be from The songs of Hugo Wolf by Eric Sams. Don't have access to so I can't tell. If it is it's likely a copyright violation. Prosody (talk) 01:31, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
